Finance that keeps up with how fast you're growing.
Investors want clean numbers, your runway depends on the forecast, and tax deadlines don't care that you're shipping product. We give startups accrual books, investor-ready reporting, and CFO support from the first close to the board meeting.
Sound familiar?
Building a company means running a finance function, usually before you can hire one.
- Books a few months behind, and an investor update due on Friday.
- A financial model nobody has touched since the last raise.
- Runway that depends on which spreadsheet you trust.
- Delaware franchise tax notices that look alarming and arrive every year.
- Development work that might qualify for an R&D credit, with no one checking.
- Equity paperwork from the early days that no one is sure was filed correctly.
The startup package
Everything a growing company needs from finance, sized to your stage. Take all of it, or just the pieces you need.
Accrual books and a monthly close
Books kept on an accrual basis and closed within 7–10 days, so revenue, expenses, and burn are measured the way investors expect.
Reporting your board can use
A monthly package with results against budget, cash runway, and the metrics that matter at your stage.
Tax and compliance, handled
Your corporate return, Delaware franchise tax and annual report, 1099s, and an honest review of whether the R&D credit fits.
CFO support when the stakes rise
Budgets, forecasts, fundraising models, and data rooms, from CFO Lite to a full fractional CFO.
Deadlines startups often miss
These come up again and again. Missing one is usually fixable, but rarely cheap.
- An 83(b) election, within 30 days of receiving restricted stock
- Form 1099-NEC for contractors, by January 31
- Delaware franchise tax and annual report for corporations, by March 1
- The federal corporate return, or an extension, by the due date for your tax year
- Quarterly estimated taxes once the company is profitable
- State payroll registrations wherever you have employees
- Sales tax registration once you pass a state's threshold
- Records that support an R&D credit, kept as the work happens
Deadlines depend on your entity, state, and tax year. This is general information, not advice for your specific situation.
We'd close the books every month on an accrual basis from the first hire, even when it feels early. It costs little while the company is small, and it means the first due diligence request is a download, not a three-week scramble.
We'd also put the 83(b) deadline on the calendar the day stock is granted. It's the one startup deadline with no way to fix it afterward.

Questions founders ask
Cash or accrual books?
Accrual, once you have investors, meaningful revenue, or plans to raise. It matches revenue and expenses to the right month, which is how investors and auditors read your numbers. Cash basis can work for a while at the very beginning.
When do we need a CFO?
Usually when decisions start carrying real money: a raise, a loan, hiring ahead of revenue, or a board that wants more than a P&L. You can start with CFO Lite and add more as the stakes rise.
Do we qualify for the R&D credit?
Possibly, if you're developing new products, software, or processes. Qualified small businesses can apply part of the credit against payroll taxes even before they're profitable. We'll review your activity and tell you honestly whether it's worth claiming.
We're not in California. Can you help?
Yes. We work with companies nationwide, fully remote, through a secure client portal.
